If you are searching for a thoughtful holiday gift for a loved one and at a highly discounted price, look no further. The Georgia Museum of Art at the University of Georgia is hosting its annual holiday book and frame sale from December 3 through December 6, 2019.
During the book and frame sale, holiday shoppers can peruse our collection of new and used items of all genres in the main lobby of the museum and check out in the museum shop from 10 am to 4 pm.
Our inaugural holiday sale started roughly 10 years ago to help clear out some of the older books on the museum’s backlog by offering them up to the community, while also benefitting the museum. As we have received an increasing about of donations from local patrons over the years to build up our diverse collection, the event has grown into a much larger and anticipated sale.
We now offer a vast collection of new and used books from all genres including plenty of art books and catalogues, as well as fiction, children’s literature and more. The majority of these items sell at incredible prices ranging from $1 to $4, all of which benefits the museum. Occasionally, an extremely valuable, exciting item will be available and sell for much more.
In addition to books, we also sell gently used frames at discounted prices. Whenever the museum obtains a new piece of art, the preparatory team reframes it before displaying it in the galleries, unless the original frame is vital to the specific artist or piece. The remaining high-quality, barely touched original frames are available to shoppers at unbeatable prices.
Hillary Hazel Brown, the museum’s director of communications, said, “I really enjoy the book sale every year, not only as someone who organizes it, but also as a customer. I’ve found all kinds of great art books for friends and family, and I love that the money it raises goes to the museum.”
Overall, our book and frame sale is a wonderful opportunity for students and adults alike to shop for their loved ones and kick off the holiday season in the right way!
