Our Youth and Family Programs
Family Day
Art, activity and together time. Family Day makes it all possible. Join us one Saturday a month from 10 a.m. to noon for free hands-on art, live demos and self-paced exploration. This experience includes a guide, supplies and a seat in the Michael and Mary Erlanger Studio Classroom.
Toddler Tuesday
One Tuesday a month at 10 a.m., toddlers and caregivers are invited to play, explore and create. With storytime and close looking in the galleries and an art project in the studio classroomn, this free 40-minute experience at our family friendly art museum in Athens is perfect for ages 18 months to 3 years.
Teen Studio
Edit Teen Studio blurb: Need a creative outlet that doesn’t feel like school? Teen Studio invites you to check out new exhibitions, experiment with studio techniques and materials and hang with like-minded teens. Hosted once a quarter on Thursdays, 5:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. Free entry. Free pizza. Endless creativity.
Art Adventures
This free summer program invites day camps, daycares and community centers to explore the museum. Each 90-minute session includes an interactive tour and an art activity. Morning and afternoon slots are available, and we have room for up to 30 children, plus chaperones.
Backpack Tours
Check in at the front desk and set off at your own pace. Each kit includes fun prompts, helpful tips and surprise materials for creative gallery play. We have bilingual kits (English/Spanish) available.
Art at Home
Browse art activities inspired by our collection that you can make in your own home. We update these regularly, so there’s always something new to inspire your family.

Not always, but some popular programs do require RSVPs. Toddler Tuesday and Art Adventures need reservations to ensure the right ratio of chaperones and supplies.
Meanwhile, drop-in events like Backpack Tours don’t require registration. It’s all part of creating a relaxed, low-stress experience at our family friendly museum in Athens.
Think of staff as mentors, not managers. They’re there to answer questions, introduce new tools, and encourage exploration. The vibe is low-key, supportive and teen-first.
The backpack kits’ design allows for individual or shared use, depending on your group’s size and curiosity. Each contains enough prompts and materials to spark collective creativity.
