Pre-K–12 Field Trips and Tours

You want your students to look closer. Think deeper. See differently.

A worksheet shows the what. A gallery shows the why. When students stand before original works of art, something quiet clicks. These programs aren’t about memorizing facts. They’re about seeing the world, then seeing it differently. Spark your students’ curiosity and creativity through free guided and self-guided tours.

Field Trips

Field trips are available by appointment Tuesday – Friday, scheduled at least 2 weeks in advance.

Field trips last approximately 90 minutes. They include a 45-minute guided tour and a 35-minute art-making activity in our Michael and Mary Erlanger Studio Classroom. We can adapt them to shorter or longer periods of time on request.

Field trips are limited to 110 students. One responsible adult must accompany every 15 students.

Our Adopt-a-Bus program offers transportation support for qualifying schools on a first-come, first-serve basis.

Self-guided tours are available for homeschool and parochial school groups and are limited to 50 students.

Printed self-guides are available by request.

Teacher Resources

To help teachers provide museum education in Athens, we’ve gathered resources designed for engagement, before and after visiting the museum. We offer museum-created packets, catalogues and custom materials tailored to your curriculum, whether you’re visiting in person or teaching from afar.

Adopt-a-Bus

Adopt-a-Bus removes barriers and builds bridges by funding travel for Georgia school groups outside Athens-Clarke County. Your donation is tax deductible(opens in new tab) and helps bring meaningful museum experiences to classrooms that might otherwise miss out.
