Make more art

Since 1986, the museum has hosted Family Day, a free monthly drop-in program for children and families. Held on a Saturday from 10 a.m. to noon, Family Day features a different theme each time, taken from a current exhibition or a focus within the permanent collection. Admission is always free and includes gallery activities, a hands-on art activity completed with the help of learning and engagement staff and interns, a brochure with self-guided activities and a photo booth. No registration is required.

Activities give children and parents alike the chance to put their own spin on an object related to what they’ve seen in the galleries and have included personalizing red paper lanterns, hanging tapestries, mandalas and oceans in jars. Using these tools and many more, the program has been nurturing community interactions since beginning nearly 40 years ago.

Family Day is sponsored by Heyward Allen Cadillac-GMC-Toyota.
