A Tour for beginners

How do you introduce children to an art museum? We’re here to help.

Check out a backpack tour from the museum’s lobby desk and you’ll have all the supplies you need for a fun gallery adventure. Each backpack includes touring tips, activity cards and a bag of goodies that can be used in any gallery. There is no right way to complete backpack activities. Go at your own pace and enjoy them in the best way and best order for you. Backpack tours are available in English and Spanish.

Backpack tours allow visitors the immersive experience of a guided tour while going at their own pace. They guide you through the museum’s collection with activities along the way. Each tour highlights four works of art and includes activities for any work the visitor chooses. Each backpack includes drawing materials and an activity sheet for families to fill out and take home as a souvenir from their visit.

Because the tours are self-guided, visitors can take as long as they want at each stop and even return to finish the tour another time.
