Charles Munro’s painting on wood features a painted American flag as a backdrop and a folk painting of a game of baseball superimposed on top of the flag in an oblong with soft edges. It’s an informal game on a regular field, with red-roofed white houses and trees in the background.

Museum Studies Pop-Up Exhibition

Dr. Callan Steinmann’s FCID 5010/7010 Introduction to Museum Studies class developed this pop-up exhibition, which highlights works drawn from the museum’s permanent collection related to the themes of sports and athletics. Steinmann’s class met at the museum over the course of the fall 2026 semester. Students learned about exhibition development and interpretation, then selected works from the collection, researched them and wrote extended labels for each object. The pop-up exhibition will be on view in the Shannon and Peter Candler Collection Study Room beginning at 5 p.m. on Thursday, November 19, and staying up regular museum hours Friday, November 20, and Saturday, November 21.
