The Georgia Museum of Art at the University of Georgia will host its Museum Mix on Thursday, July 18. Attendees are invited to enjoy open galleries, free refreshments and a live DJ from 8 p.m. to 11 p.m. The late-night art party is free and open to the public. The event continues the museum’s tradition of providing art open to everyone in the community.
The DJ will be Marcel Sletten. Sletten is a music producer and composer working in Athens, GA. He became interested in Museum Mix because he feels it is “a celebration of music, art, and culture.”
“Museum Mix continues the age-old Athens tradition of bringing people together through the power of music,” he said. When asked about his favorite part of the event, he notes that it is “the fact that you can listen to somebody DJ fun music for three hours straight, in addition to the free food and drinks. It doesn’t get much better than that.”
Big City Bread Cafe will provide free food.
Exhibitions on view include “A Perfect Model: Prints after Anthony Van Dyck’s Portraits,” “Power and Piety in 17th-Century Spanish Art,” as well as the permanent collection galleries.
