More Than “Something to Do”
What if family time looked a little different? Here, you’ll get more story time, more hands-on creativity and more chances to make memories together. All away from the screen and in the moment.
This free summer program invites day camps, daycares and community centers. Each 90-minute session blends gallery tours, games and hands-on art, inspired by movement and sound. Morning and afternoon slots are available, and we have room for up to 30 children, plus chaperones.
Check in at the front desk and set off at your own pace. Each kit includes fun prompts, helpful tips and surprise materials for creative gallery play. We have bilingual kits (English/Spanish) available. This is a chance to explore at your own pace and connect with the art in a unique way.
Art, activity and together time. Family Day makes it all possible. Join us one Saturday a month from 10 a.m. to noon for free hands-on art, live demos and self-paced exploration. This experience includes a guide, supplies and a seat in the Michael and Mary Erlanger Studio Classroom.
Can’t come to the museum? We’ll come to you. From festivals to community spaces, our educators bring the art experience beyond Athens, tailored to your event, audience and vision.
Looking to bring art to your space? Just My Imagination offers Saturday workshops across Georgia for ages 7 to 14. Kids explore techniques like drawing and bead weaving, led by a teaching artist. Chaperones required. The Turner Family Foundation, in memory of Nancy C. Turner, sponsors this program.
Need a creative outlet that doesn’t feel like school? Teen Studio invites you to engage with art, try new techniques and hang with like-minded teens. Every other month on Thursdays, 5:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. Free entry. Free pizza. Endless creativity.
One Tuesday a month at 10 a.m., toddlers and families are invited to play, explore and create. With storytime, games and an art project in the studio, this free 40-minute experience at our family friendly art museum in Athens is perfect for ages 18 months to 3 years.

Meanwhile, drop-in events like Backpack Tours don’t require registration. It’s all part of creating a relaxed, low-stress experience at our family friendly museum in Athens.
Think of staff as mentors, not managers. They’re there to answer questions, introduce new tools, and encourage exploration. The vibe is low-key, supportive and teen-first.
The backpack kits’ design allows for individual or shared use, depending on your group’s size and curiosity. Each contains enough prompts and materials to spark collective creativity.
