If you’ve missed hearing from our curators lately, you’re in luck. This week the Georgia Museum of Art’s Nelda Damiano, Pierre Daura Curator of European Art, will join Amy Galpin, chief curator of the Patricia and Phillip Frost Art Museum at Florida International University, for a Curator Chats session. The talk will be held on Instagram live on Wednesday, July 8, at 5 p.m.
Prior to her time at the museum, Damiano earned her master’s degree in museum studies from the University of Montreal, and obtained her doctoral degree in art history from McGill University, Montreal, Quebec, with an emphasis on Italian Renaissance and Baroque art. She also served as associate curator at the Cummer Museum of Art & Gardens in Jacksonville, Florida, and curatorial assistant at the National Gallery of Canada, in Ottawa, Ontario.
Galpin has been hosting Curator Chats with museum curators from around the country showcasing different curatorial topics. She specializes in modern and contemporary work from the U.S. and Latin America. She has also organized exhibitions for the National Museum of Mexican Art in Chicago and the Pasadena Museum of California Art. While at the San Diego Museum of Art, Galpin served as associate curator of art of the Americas.
