Toddler Tuesday: Winter Celebration

11.05.2025

These two paintings are winter landscapes. A landscape is a type of painting that shows the outdoors.

Take a closer look at these paintings. Find the red buildings and the mountains in the background.

If you could step into one of these paintings, which one would you step into? Talk to someone you are with about what you would do there. What do you think the weather would feel like? Would you play in the snow?

Watch the video below for storytime about a little boy who plays in the snow.

Now it is time to make your own snow.

Cotton Ball Snowstorm

You will need:

  • Cotton balls
  • Non-toxic glue
  • Toddler-proof plate and bowl
  • Paper (optional: print the black and white landscape available below)

How to make cotton ball snow:

  1. Place the cotton balls in the bowl and squeeze a small puddle of glue onto the plate.
  2. Help your little one dip the cotton balls in the glue and press them onto the paper.
  3. Continue gluing cotton balls until the landscape is covered in snow!
