Do you know what season it is? It’s fall. During this season, the weather gets cooler. The leaves change colors, and, of course, they fall. When you go outside, where do you see leaves? Are they on the ground or still on the trees?
Take a look at the painting “Autumn Scene.” How many trees do you see? What colors are the leaves? The artist Maurice Prendergast wanted to paint a picture of the fall season. He shows all the different colors you might see as fall begins.
Now it’s your turn to create art inspired by the fall season.

For this activity, you will need:
- white paper
- brown marker or pencil
- red, orange and yellow washable paint

To make a finger paint tree:
- Cover your work area for easy clean-up.
- Draw a tree outline using a brown marker or pencil. Your toddler can also do this.
- Pour a small amount of each color of paint on a washable surface.
- Have your toddler dip their finger in a paint color and begin stamping it on the tree branches to create leaves.
- Stamp some paint at the bottom of the tree for fallen leaves or acorns.
- Repeat the previous two steps for each color until the tree is filled to their liking.
- Once finished, admire your autumn creation.
