Toddler Tuesday: Festive Frames

11.05.2025

For Toddler Tuesday this month we’re making a festive frame!

Check out this work of art by Howardena Pindell for inspiration. What do you see? What shapes can you find? How many colors are there?

Now it is time to make your own art. You are going to decorate a frame with paint sticks and pom poms.

For this activity you will need:
  • an unfinished wooden frame
  • tempera paint sticks (or markers)
  • colorful pom poms
  • glue
  • popsicle stick

Directions:
  1. Spread out newspaper or kraft paper on your work surface for easy clean-up.
  2. Draw on your frame using the paint sticks.
  3. Help your little artist dab glue on a pom pom with a popsicle stick. Then stick it on the frame. Repeat until you have achieved pom pom perfection.
  4. Let the glue dry. Frame a special picture.
