Art at Home: Leaf Collage

11.19.2025

Do you know what season it is? It’s fall. The air feels cooler, and leaves on the trees change colors. They turn red, orange and yellow and fall to the ground.

When you go outside, look around. Can you spot any falling leaves? Are they still on the trees or crunching under your feet?

Take a look at this painting called “Autumn Trees” by Pierre Daura. How many trees can you count? What colors do you see? The artist painted the trees just as their leaves were changing color.
Now it’s your turn to make your own art inspired by fall.
For this activity, you will need:
  • leaves and acorns
  • sheet of paper
  • school glue
  • optional: crayons or markers
To make your artwork:
  • Go on a short nature walk. Pick up colorful fall leaves and acorns.
  • Cover your work surface for easy clean-up.
  • Place your leaves on the paper to make a fun picture, like a face or an animal.
  • Once you like your design, glue each piece in place.
  • Use crayons or markers to add details.
