learn leadership skills
The Georgia Museum of Art’s student guide program is a selective, year-long student leadership and ambassador program. First-, second-, and third-year undergraduates can dive into the museum’s collection through the student guide program and deeply engage with our public and campus communities.
Student guides research, create and lead object-based public tours at the museum. They also represent the museum at various campus-wide and museum events. Student guides advocate for the museum as a key space and resource on campus.
Students from any college and field of study are welcome to apply. No prior art historical knowledge or museum experience is needed. During weekly meetings, students will learn to develop original, research-based tours focused on objects and a theme they choose. Students develop key transferable skills, including critical thinking, visual analysis, public speaking and leadership.
This is a paid position at $13.50/hour (work-study eligible) with weekly meetings on Thursdays from 5:15 to 6:45 p.m. in the fall and spring semesters. Students are expected to work up to five-hours per week. Tours will begin during the spring semester and take place on Saturdays and Sundays. Students who successfully complete the program will earn an Experiential Learning Leadership credit.
The 2025 – 26 cohort is now full, please check back at the end of the spring semester for applications for the 2026 – 27 cohort.
