90 Carlton
After hearing Daniel Ackermann deliver his Green Symposium keynote address, all visitors are encouraged to come by the museum for the quarterly 90 Carlton: Winter reception on January 30. Presented by the Friends of the Georgia Museum of Art, this reception features the winter exhibitions as well as light refreshments, door prizes and an “Ask the Experts” Q&A in the galleries.
Following the 10th Henry D. Green Symposium of the Decorative Arts keynote address, 90 Carlton: Winter will begin at 5:30 and run until 8:30 p.m. The “Ask the Experts” Q&A will be held from 7 to 8 p.m. in the galleries. This event is a great opportunity for visitors to view the winter exhibitions.
The exhibitions on view include: “Louis Comfort Tiffany: Treasures from the Driehaus Collection,” organized by the Richard H. Driehaus Museum and toured by International Arts and Artists, Washington, D.C.; “Material Georgia 1733 – 1900: Two Decades of Scholarship”; “Master, Pupil, Follower: 16th- to 18th-Century Italian Works on Paper”; “Kevin Cole: Soul Ties”; “Reflecting on Rembrandt: 500 Years of Etching”; and “The Monsters Are Due on Broad Street: Patrick Dean.” While the Tiffany show and the early furniture and other decorative arts of “Material Georgia” especially relate to the Green Symposium, these exhibitions reflect a wide array of works and artists. From an exploration of a Baroque master’s influence to drawings by a former Athens Flagpole cartoonist, the exhibitions offer something for everyone to engage with during the reception.
This event is free for current members and registrants of the Henry D. Green Symposium of the Decorative Arts, $10 for Friends of the Museum and Friend + Supporters, and $15 for Not Yet Friends. Event Partners are Athens Printing Company, Barron's Rental Center, Epting Events, Guide 2 Athens, Perryander Studio and Terrapin Beer Company.
