Each docent tour is tailored to your group’s particular needs and interests. Special accommodations can also be made for the Deaf and hard of hearing. To learn more about group tours please contact Callan Steinmann, call 706.542.4662 or request to book a tour online.
The Georgia Museum of Art welcomes and serves K-12 school groups from near and far with interpretive programs based on its exhibitions and collections and geared to Georgia Performance Standards. Tours are age-appropriate and feature gallery and studio activities.
Through Adopt-a-Bus, you can provide funding for bus transportation to the museum for school groups outside Athens-Clarke County. The program is a key component of the museum's statewide service. Adopt-a-Bus is specially targeted to rural schools, many of which have limited resources and would otherwise be unable to visit their state museum of art in its splendid new facility.
Your gift of $250 will underwrite one or more bus trips to the Georgia Museum of Art and is entirely tax deductible. The museum will acknowledge your support of Adopt-a-Bus in its quarterly newsletter, Facet.
Schools interested in taking advantage of the program should contact the museum at 706.542.4662. Individuals wishing to donate to the program should contact the museum at 706.542.4662 or donate online by clicking below:
Suggestions for Your Visit
Groups arriving by bus may be dropped off at the turnaround between the Performing Arts Center and the School of Music, which is located in lot E11 on River Road. Visitors can then walk through the Performing and Visual Arts Complex quad to the front door of the museum. Buses must park past the intramural fields in designated bus parking by the Redcoat Band practice field (see map).
