At the Georgia Museum of Art, we collaborate with the University of Georgia’s Lamar Dodd School of Art annually to display the works of graduating master of fine arts students. This year’s exhibition is entirely online, due to the impact of COVID-19. Check out some of the candidate profiles below.

MFA Candidate Spotlight: Guadalupe Navarro

The annual Master of Fine Arts Degree Candidates Exhibition at the Georgia Museum of Art opens on April 13. The exhibition will display the creative works of eight students slated to graduate from the Lamar Dodd School of the Art in May. Additionally, twelve students will show at the Deupree Building in downtown Athens at 458 E. Clayton Street. Both exhibitions run the same dates and will hold opening receptions on April 12 (6 – 8 p.m. at the museum and 8 – 10 p.m. at the Deupree Building). All candidates will participate in MFA Speaks. We will spotlight some of these candidates, continuing with metalsmithing student Guadalupe Navarro.

MFA Candidate Spotlight: Deepanjan Mukhopadhyay

UGA master of fine arts degree candidate Deepanjan Mukhopadhyay calls Calcutta (now Kolkata), India, home. Mukhopadhyay received his undergraduate degree in photography at Louisiana Tech. He continues to create art in the visual realm but has expanded beyond a single medium.
