The W. Newton Morris Charitable Foundation

Born in Dublin, Georgia, Willis Newton Morris attended but did not graduate from the University of Georgia. He remembered it fondly, however, and began having conversations with UGA development officers as early as 1984. His first gift to the museum, in 1995, totaled $1,000.

2021 Smitty award co-winner: Lacy Middlebrooks Camp

The annual M. Smith Griffith Volunteer Award (the “Smitty”) recognizes the Georgia Museum of Art’s most dedicated volunteers. This year’s co-recipients of the 25th Smitty award are Lacy Middlebrooks Camp and Gordhan Patel. A month ago, we featured Patel’s longtime involvement with the museum. This week, to finish out Friends Appreciation Month, we’re highlighting Camp’s efforts and contributions.

Friends Appreciation Month at the museum

September 2, 2021

The Georgia Museum of Art is celebrating Friends Appreciation Month now through September 30. Anyone who enjoys art and is curious about the museum’s exhibitions and programs can become a Friend for free. Anyone who becomes a Friend or Annual Fund Member through the end of the month will be automatically entered into drawings for a chance to win various prizes.

Membership Provides Reciprocal Discounts at Nationwide Museums

One of the benefits of becoming a Friend + Contributing Member at the Georgia Museum of Art is the reciprocal membership discounts and privileges at more than 1,000 art museums, cultural centers and historic sites throughout North America. Georgia Museum of Art members receive these benefits through four reciprocal programs: North American Reciprocal Museums (NARM) Association, Southeastern Reciprocal Membership Program (SERM), Reciprocal Organization of Associated Museums (ROAM) and College and University Art Museums (CUAM).
