The Georgia Museum of Art houses dozens of works of art from the Jason Schoen Collection as an extended loan, several of which are installed in the permanent collection galleries. Schoen’s collection focuses on American work from the 1930s through the 1950s, with a particular strength in American Scene and regionalist artists working in painting, printmaking, drawing and watercolor. It has served as the basis of two major traveling exhibitions, “Coming Home: American Paintings 1930–1950 from the Schoen Collection” and “The American Scene on Paper: Prints and Drawings from the Schoen Collection.” Artists represented include Thomas Hart Benton, Charles Burchfield, Paul Cadmus, John Steuart Curry, Philip Evergood, William Gropper, Rockwell Kent and Ben Shahn. Schoen began collecting in the late 1970s and serves as an art consultant, residing in Princeton, New Jersey.
