Museum Mix is back at the Georgia Museum of Art

Thursday, April 12, 2018

The Georgia Museum of Art at the University of Georgia will host its first Museum Mix of the year on April 19, from 8 to 11 p.m. (directly following MFA Speaks, which begins at 6:30 p.m. and features the Lamar Dodd School of Art’s graduating MFA students discussing their work). All of the galleries will be open for the late-night art party. DJ Mahogany will be playing tunes, and free refreshments and snacks will be provided. The event is free and open to the public.

DJ Mahogany: X-ray tech in the daylight, DJ in the moonlight. Known by day as Mark Weathersby, he is a beloved Athens DJ who began DJ’ing to pay for X-ray tech school but fell in love with it. He performs at many local bars and venues and loves that he gets to make people dance and have a good time. DJ Mahogany’s style is the perfect blend of old and new, ensuring that no matter your age, you will dance the night away.

Weathersby says, “I’m going to play a wide mix of soul, disco, funk, hip hop, rap, pop and whatever helps people to fuel their dance needs. I LOVE being in the museum! It is truly such a fun, gorgeous space! I love all the art showcased there.”

Exhibitions on view include “Opera in Print: Fin-de-siècle Posters from the Blum Collection,” “Crafting History: Textiles, Metals and Ceramics at the University of Georgia,” “Images of Awakening: Buddhist Sculpture from Afghanistan and Pakistan” and the annual Masters of Fine Arts Degree Candidates Exhibition.

Sponsors of the event include Cali N Tito’s, Heirloom Cafe and Marti’s at Midday.
